Lent, Day 33:Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this

John, in prison (I am focusing on his imprisonment next week), sends a question by his disciples to Jesus: "Are you the one who is coming, or should we expect another?"

A moment of doubt? A need for consolation in dire circumstance? A chance to again point his disciples the right way? I am not sure why John asks.

Regardless, it does allow us to again see what John lived for – not for himself but for the one who would come after him. And this one came not to scold or to destroy, but to heal and to repair.
"Go and report to John what things you hear and see; blind are gaining sight and lame are walking, leprous are cleansed and deaf are hearing, dead are being raised and poor are receiving the gospel. And blessed is he who does not stumble because of me."
