Lent, Day 30: He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.

There was a man, sent from God, whose name was John;
this one came for a witness in order that he might bear witness about the light,
    in order that everyone might believe through him.
That one was not the light but was to bear witness to the light:
the true Light, who enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
