Lent, Day 31: How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!

The psalmist continues in this song of ascent: "It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore (Psa 133:2-3, TNIV)."

Since it is a psalm trading in similes, I offer a photographic simile ("God's people living in unity is like...") with the point being that such unity is a blessing (as these sea lions and one odd sea bird might attest). We are singing these psalms of ascent (120-134) in our pilgrimage to Zion...the Zion where Jesus will be enthroned upon his cross (so my last entry) and the new, heavenly Zion where we worship our Lord Christ together. Together - heaven is not about us as individuals receiving unique rewards but rather about us as God's family living with each other and him in his radiant, loving, eternal glory. We taste that eternity now whenever we live together in love.
